Federal funding for this program comes from the office of Housing and Development (HUD) and is directed to Fauquier County in varying amounts each year. This program is designed to promote neighborhood revitalization and first time home ownership. FHC works with the County to rebuild/renovate foreclosed or abandoned properties. The County then resells these homes to income qualified applicants.

Under the County contract the following subsidies are offered to low-income homeowners on the sales prices of these homes:

• For buyers 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or below the subsidy is 30% of the sales price
• For buyers between 51% and 80% of the AMI the subsidy is 20% of the sales price
• For buyers between 81% and 120% AMI there is down payment assistance of up to 10%, if matched dollar-for-dollar with non-NSP funds.
