Former storage barn on the Stuart Street property. Wood from this barn was salvaged and donated to be used in another home.

Surveys conducted in January of 2000 showed that of a total of 37 Affordable Housing Units in The Plains, less then half were planned to remain in use as affordable housing

Stuart Street Homes was constructed to help offset the lack of affordable units in this small town.

Stuart Street Homes was constructed on the site of an old storage barn in the small town of The Plains. Six units were created in two buildings. Building "A" houses four families in four, 2 bedroom, 2.5 baths, townhomes. Building "B" houses two families with ADAAG (universal design) compliant, single story duplex units designed to include ramp access with fully accessible bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.

Stuart Street Qualifications
Stuart Street Homes is required, under federal law, to qualify all applicants seeking tenancy for program eligibility. In addition, Stuart Street Homes Associates also requires applicants to meet certain income, employment, rental history and credit tests.
